2000

January: Millennium Celebrations

A fun day on New Years' Eve, followed by a Watchnight Service and fireworks to welcome in the new millennium.


2001

November: 'CURFYOU' Outreach Weekend at St. Johns

Our youth organisations, under the banner 'CURFYOU' held a weekend of outreach activities. A free disco and yfriday concert for pupils of local schools, followed by a special family service and RSVP youth service.


2002

The Eccleston Group is Formed
St. Johns joined Christ Church, St James, St Luke, and St Matthew to form the Eccleston Group of Churches, which was a forerunner of the Eccleston Team.

The Queen's Golden Jubilee
St. Johns hosted a special family fun day for the community to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

St. Johns Centre Building Work Began
After years of fundraising, building renovation work on the first phase of the new St. Johns Community Centre got underway. New meeting rooms and a Learn Direct IT suite were created downstairs.


2003

> 12 February: LearnDirect IT Suite Opens
A LearnDirect backed IT suite opened, offering community internet access and computer courses.

Building Work Begins on the St. Johns Centre Phase Two
Building work began on the extension to the existing building, as the St. Johns Centre prepared to open.


2004

St. Johns Centre Opens
After almost 15 years of fundraising, planning and building, the final phase of the 'Reaching Out Project' - the St. Johns Community Centre, was opened in January 2004.


2005

February: Family Outreach Weekend At St. Johns
After the success of the CURFYOU Youth Outreach Weekend in 2001, a similar format was followed. A free disco and family service took place during the weekend of 11-13th February 2005. The highlight was a 'Praise Party' hosted by Doug Horley, who had earlier hosted a training seminar for children's workers in St. Johns. The Praise Party was a sell-out with no tickets remaining for sale on the day - over 300 people attended.


2006

Centre Takes Charge Of Taylor Park Boathouse Cafe
Continuing the vision to reach out into the community, the St. Johns Centre won the tender to run the Boathouse Cafe in nearby Taylor Park.


2008

November: Revd. Roy Doran Announces He Will Leave Ravenhead
After over 20 years ministry in the parish of Ravenhead, Revd. Doran announced he was leaving to take up a new position as vicar of St. Johns Church, Knotty Ash.


2009

January: Farewell Events Mark Revd. Doran's Last Weekend In Ravenhead
A special gathering on Saturday 24th January preceeded Roy's last service in Ravenhead. The Saturday event gave people a chance to meet and celebrate Roy and wife Sue's time in the parish, before the next morning, when Roy preached his final sermon here, more than 20 years after his first.

February: Scores Travel To Knotty Ash
Many people from Ravenhead visited St. Johns Church, Knotty Ash, to see former vicar Revd. Roy Doran installed in his new parish.

23 September: Memorial Garden Is Consecrated
The Bishop of Warrington, in one of his last engagements before retirement, visited for the consecration of the new memorial garden.

27 December: St. Johns 140th Anniversary
St. John the Evangelist's Day marks the 140th anniversary of St. Johns Church being consecrated and opened.
