Baptism (often called 'Christening') marks the beginning of a child's journey in the Christian faith. The child's parents and godparents will make public vows of faith and their intention support the child in faith.

Baptism is an ancient custom. The Bible records that Jesus Himself was Baptised in the River Jordan by John the Baptist. By bringing your child to Baptism, you are publicly thanking God for His gift of life, declaring that you will bring your child up in the Christian faith and asking for the support of the church.

At St. Johns, Baptisms are normally held every 2 months in the 10:45am service.

Baptisms in the Church of England are free, but there may be a small charge for the Certificate of Baptism - you should discuss this when making arrangements with us.
