Funerals are usually arranged through a Funeral Director rather than directly with a Parish Church.
Once you have selected which company you would like to assist with the arrangements, they can contact St. Johns to confirm availability of the building and clergy. This can take away some of the worry of arranging a funeral from the family and leave it in the hands of caring and sympathetic professionals to guide them through the process.
We realise that the loss of a family member or friend can be a highly upsetting and emotional time. The church would like to offer you a hand of support. You or your friends and family may wish to take advantage of our Bereavement Support group.
Fees are chargable for a funeral service in church. Most of these fees are set by the Church of England, but the local parish will set some of the cost themselves, to cover costs or pay an organist, for example.
You have the right to a funeral in your parish church, regardless of whether or not you or the deceased have been regular church-goers. Practising Christians may be interested to know that Holy Communion can be incorporated into the service.
