'The Greatest Love of All'
A Service for Valentine's Day & Lent

A special service to mark Valentine's Day and the First Sunday of Lent. This will be a great service to come along to with husbands, wives, your fiance/fiancee, or partners, boyfriends and girlfriends. It'll be a relaxed, family-friendly service, with perhaps a power ballad or two..!


Mothers' Day/Mothering Sunday Service
10:45am, Sunday 6 March 2016

A service to give thanks for mums and family life. Bring your mum, or come and remember her in this special service. Our guest preacher this morning will be the Venerable Rev. Roger Preece, Archdeacon of St Helens & Warrington, who will also preside at Holy Communion.


Easter Sunday Service

We gather to celebrate Easter Sunday and the resurrection of Christ. This is an uplifting service for all the family, and maybe, just maybe, the Easter Bunny will have visited Church during the night to hide some eggs for the children...


Concert: An Evening with Noel & Tricia Richards

An evening of acoustic music, worship and conversation with singers, songwriters and worship leaders Noel and Tricia Richards. Following a sell-out concert at St John's in 2014, Noel & Tricia return with new songs and a new album - 'Wonderful' - released at the end of 2015.


Spring Fair

A selection of stalls with profits to the work of the Church. There will be various home-made goods and services available, including handmade jewellery, nail manicures, decorative plants, cake stalls, bric-a-brac and more.

An Evening with Jimmy B
Entertainment & Hot Pot Supper

Friday 24 June 2016, Time 7:30pm
Tickets: £6 inc. hot pot supper & Apple Pie

We're looking forward to holding an evening with entertainer 'Jimmy B'. Tickets are £6, including Hot Pot Supper and Apple Pie (bring your own drinks). Jimmy will sing songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s and all proceeds will go towards the Church. Please get your tickets from Deryck or John, or by ringing 01744 758991 as soon as possible as they are limited in number.

Haydock Male Voice Choir

We are delighted that Haydock Male Voice Choir will visit to present a concert at St John's Church, Ravenhead in September 2016. Bringing a varied program of music, the glorious sound of the male voice will resonate within the Church. Tickets are £5 and can be booked online.

Heritage Open Days 2016

St John's Church will be open for viewing as part of the national Heritage Open Days initiative. You will be able to follow a self-guided tour around the building, viewing information panels and seeing historical items and memorials as part of your visit. Free entry with various activities throughout the day and there'll be a children's activity trail, so bring the family along..


Harvest Sunday
Sunday 18th September 2016, 10:45am

Come, ye thankful people, come, plough the fields and scatter and raise the song of harvest home. It may be a favourite celebration from your school days, but it is still going strong and is celebrated annually in Churches across the UK. Come and give thanks for the food we eat and those who provide it for us. We will also take a voluntary collection for charity.

Organ Recital - David Poulter

David Poulter Organ Recital

David Poulter joins us to give a recital on our Wadsworth & Brother pipe organ. David is the Director of Music at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral and has travelled extensively, as a recitalist and as a conductor, across Europe and beyond.

David has featured as a soloist on BBC Radio 3 with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and has featured on a number of recordings.


Remembrance Sunday

An annual opportunity to gather alongside people and Churches around the world to remember those who have given their lives in times of conflict to protect our nation and our way of life, both from Ravenhead and beyond. Includes two minutes' silence at 11am. All are very welcome.


Rock'n'Roll Night with Colin Smith & Band
Saturday 19 November 2016, 7:00pm
Tickets £5, inc. light refreshments

Colin Smith and his band bring an evening of rock'n'roll music to St John's Centre. With music spanning from the golden era of rock'n'roll in the 50s and 60s and beyond, taking in hits from acts such as The Beatles, Chuck Berry and Status Quo, this promises to be a great evening. There'll be a quiz to add to the entertainment, along with light refreshments included in the ticket price.

Tickets are on sale from Alan Abbot in Church, or from St John's Centre. Limited numbers available so book as soon as possible.

Church is a great place to spend Christmas with the family. With carols on the organ, the crib awaiting the Christ Child and the Advent Candle counting through the Sundays before the big day, don't miss the chance to remember why we celebrate Christmas.
